Bring your Lexia and VALLSS data to plan small group instruction with support from the session facilitators. We will review resources and support you through the planning process. You may also bring your own materials if interested in making hands-on resources to use with your small groups.
This session is designed to help middle school ELA teachers maximize the impact of Lexia PowerUp by connecting student data, program content, and targeted instruction. Educators will learn how to use student-level myLexia reports to monitor progress, identify learning needs, and document growth over time. Participants will also explore instructional resources available in the Lexia Resource Hub and deepen their understanding of the literacy skills and strategies embedded within PowerUp activities. Through hands-on analysis of student data and program content, teachers will identify priority learners and develop plans for targeted small-group instruction aligned to students' specific literacy needs. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped to make data-informed instructional decisions that bridge online learning and teacher-led instruction, increasing student engagement, program effectiveness, and literacy outcomes.

This session will review the 13 components of Explicit Instruction. We will then share how to use the aligned curriculum to plan mini-lessons that incorporate these components. We will model the delivery of explicit instruction based on our curriculum. Participants will then have the opportunity to review learning experiences and incorporate explicit instruction components that may not already be present.

Participants will explore how PowerUp develops foundational literacy, word study, grammar, and comprehension skills while experiencing key components of the program from a student's perspective. Teachers will learn how to use myLexia data to monitor student progress, identify areas of need, and connect performance data to instructional planning and intervention decisions. The session will also introduce the 5-Minute Check-In, a practical daily or weekly routine that enables educators to quickly review data, celebrate growth, identify instructional priorities, and determine next steps for support.
