LIMITED
Monday September 28, 2026 8:15am - 9:00am EDT
Limited Capacity seats available
This 45-minute session will introduce educators to the Virginia Holocaust Museum as a resource for developing meaningful, inquiry-based, and student-centered Holocaust education. The session will focus on strategies for moving students from passive learners to active historians by using inquiry-based approaches that encourage students to analyze evidence, ask questions, make connections, and develop their own understanding of the Holocaust and its broader historical context. Becoming a Leader
LIMITED
Monday September 28, 2026 8:15am - 9:50am EDT
Limited Capacity seats available
This session explores what leadership looks like at every level of a school community and seeks to clarify the role of central office in day-to-day school operations. Participants will examine qualities of effective leaders, consider ways to lead within their classrooms and schools, and learn about potential pathways for expanding their leadership impact. The session will also provide a closer look at the role of instructional specialists—what they do, how they support teachers and schools, and how their work contributes to division-wide teaching and learning. Whether participants are interested in formal leadership roles or simply want to strengthen their influence where they are, this session will help them consider how they can lead from their current position.

UNLOCKING LEARNING: Student-Created Digital Escape Rooms with Google Slides and Google Drawings
LIMITED
Monday September 28, 2026 2:20pm - 3:55pm EDT
Limited Capacity seats available
What happens when students move from solving problems to designing them? In this hands-on professional development session, educators will explore how students can use Google Slides and Google Drawings to create interactive digital escape rooms that demonstrate content knowledge, critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. Rather than focusing on teacher-created escape rooms as review activities, this session places students in the role of designer, researcher, storyteller, and problem creator. Participants will experience a short digital escape room, examine how Google Slides and Google Drawings can be used to create interactive environments, and then design a small escape room of their own. Teachers will leave with a practical framework for helping students transform academic content into clues, puzzles, challenges, and interactive experiences.
